Since then, VisiWear has supplied solutions both within the petroleum, automotive and manufacturing industries. VisiWear develops Wireless Video Conferencing solutions enabling better safety, better and more rapid decisions, lower travel costs and more efficient use of resources.
VisiWear is introducing the worlds first intrinsically safe video communication system. Featuring the latest developments in wireless LAN /Wi-Fi technologies along with the latest MPEG-4 hardware compression codecs, the VisiWear EX 3100 is built to meet your needs for remote collaboration. EX Certified for operation within hazardous areas, for zone 1 and zone 2, the EX 3100 is rugged, featuring sealed, waterproof aluminium housing, shock/impact protected electronics and low weight. The high quality autofocus camera transmits video to the encoder unit, which converts to mpeg-4 video and digitally transfers video and bidirectional audio accessible to and from the integrated web server via virtually any network . The Li-Ion Polymer battery provides 4 hours of operation. All integrated in a belt pack, the system enables flexible operation.

VisiWear has developed this second generation EX antenna optimized and certified for use in hazardous environments. The antenna allows for multitude of cable diameters that makes the antenna suited for a wide range of applications. The EX-ANT-B can connect with up to 30 meters of cable length without significant loss of signal. The antenna has a wide angle beam and a wide bandwidth, providing better coverage in multi path environments (metal walls etc) that involves signal reflections rather than line of sight transmission. The antenna is also designed to withstand vibrations that often are present at offshore/industrial installations.
A new trend at
industrial sites is to install wireless networks to cut cabling cost and enable
temporary network connections while maintaining communication speed and security.
The cost/benefit of introducing wireless networks is even greater in hazardous
and offshore environments, where cabling, thoughputs, glands and manpower
represents even higher cost. An increasing number of EX PC terminals, EX PDA's,
EX video terminals, control and monitoring systems are offered with integrated
wireless networking. By installing wireless local networks, organizations
can immediately start taking advantage of these new technologies.
As quoted by the General Manager of VisiWear AS, Christian Rokseth in VisiWear's
press release dated 21st September, "The EX-ANT-B was primarily developed
to enable a flexible wireless infrastructure solutions for our EX 3100 product,
but there are really no limitations to the applications for this antenna.
It is already well proven that organizations can save money by installing
wireless network as a supplement or replacement to wired networks. The cost/benefit
of introducing wireless networks is even greater in hazardous and offshore
environments, where cabling, thoughputs, glands and manpower represents even
higher cost. Applications includes wireless video communication (EX3100),
CCTV, surveillance, control and monitoring data, alarm signals, detectors
and ad hoc networking situations".
